There are seven local organizations gearing up for flood exhibits to highlight the 100-year anniversary of Pueblo’s devastating and life-changing flood, and one of those exhibits will be hosted by the Pueblo Heritage Museum.

The Heritage Museum, located at 201 W. B St., was part of the area affected by the immense amount of flood waters that poured through Pueblo beginning June 3, 1921. The waters would have reached eight feet from the first floor there, and sent the nearby train cars in the depot tumbling off their tracks, a chilling reminder of the flood’s power.

Mohammad Curtis is the co-director and outreach coordinator of the Pueblo Heritage Museum and has been a driving force in reinventing the museum for a grand reopening at 10 a.m. on June 2.
