A painting by Jerrell Gibbs is part of the BMA‘s exhibition called “Now is the Time: Recent Acquisitions to the Contemporary Collection.”
“It means the world to be present within an institution that’s in Baltimore City, that’s a part of my city, where I grew up, where I was raised,” Gibbs said.
The painting is called “Come home with me,” and it features a 3-year-old Gibbs and his father. Gibbs is gaining national recognition for figurative painting that records the multilayered experiences of Black Americans.
