On Friday, May 7, the museum will be participating in Ukiah’s First Friday Art Walk, in conjunction with the opening of the exhibit “Postcards from Mecca,” which features the photography of Susie Keef Smith and Lula Mae Graves – two cousins who photographed their journeys through the Southern California desert region from the late 1910s through the 1930s. The exhibit also features images taken a few decades earlier by A.O. Carpenter – the father of Grace Hudson and a talented professional photographer with a diverse portfolio encompassing portraiture, commercial photography, landscapes and features of Mendocino County.
